Event Description:
Exploring common conceptions of Egypt as a modern nation rooted in ancient history, this panel will address lesser-known aspects of Egyptian history. Bukky Gbadegesin, Associate Professor in Art History at Saint Louis University, will join Steve Tamari, Professor of Middle East and Islamic Studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, to discuss Egypt’s international relationships, as well as the migration of art, spiritual practice, language, cultural traditions, and ethnicities around the changing borders of this ancient culture.
