Liaison to the Board of Trustees
Maryville University is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Staff and Liaison to the Board of Trustees reporting to the President. The Chief of Staff and Liaison to the Board of Trustees manages the administrative coordination of internal and external affairs in the President’s Office to include matters related to presidential initiatives, University-wide projects and advisory groups reporting to the President.  This position coordinates the work of the Board of Trustees and serves as assistant secretary to the Board. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a welcoming environment for a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and outside constituents.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and participate in the President’s Advisory Council.
  • Manage the essential administrative functions of the President’s Office and supervises the President’s staff.
  • Serves as Liaison to the Board of Trustees.
  • Responsible for organizing the work of the Board of Trustees, coordinates the materials and reports of the Board and ensures that adequate board minutes and records are kept.
  • Commitment to understanding and supporting the strategic plan of the University.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with confidentiality, judgement, poise and patience.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and respond to changing priorities and crisis situations.
  • Self-confidence, assertiveness, flexibility and ability to maintain composure and professionalism under stress, regardless of competing priorities while working independently and as a team member.
  • Must be attentive and a good listener; be resourceful and creative in problem-solving; and be diplomatic in personal, electronic and telephone communication.
  • Extremely organized with an ability to set priorities and balance a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage details, anticipate needs and maintain high standard of conduct.
