Organization Description: The mission of Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club (GSGBC) is to empower girls and boys in the St. Louis metropolitan area, especially those who need us most, to realize their physical, intellectual, and emotional potential.
Since 2018, GSGBC has implemented trauma-informed care through its organizational operation and how services are provided to members and their families. GSGBC is currently working with the Conscious Discipline model, a trauma-informed/evidence-based model of social-emotional learning, to implement trauma-informed care in our Clubs. Conscious Discipline helps us to better understand children’s behavior and emphasizes safety, connection, and problem solving. Staff are trained in trauma-informed care and will be provided with the tools to better understand how trauma affects our members, and how they can deal with the behaviors associated with trauma.
GSGBC offers afterschool and summer programming for youth ages 5-16, serving more than 700 youth annually. GSGBC supports youth development and holistic health with programs that include:  Academics, Athletics, Character Building, Healthy Living, College & Career Readiness and The Arts.

Primary Function: The Attendance Clerk is responsible for assuring the safety of Club members by maintaining an accurate record of attendance as well greeting members and parents in a positive manner. They will work closely with Program staff to ensure the Club adheres to the program schedule as set forth by the Director of Programs.

Schedule: The Attendance Clerk at St. Cecilia School works approximately 17 hours per week through the school year, with an anticipated schedule of 2:45 pm to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. When St. Cecilia dismisses early (approximately one time per month, generally on Fridays) the afterschool program starts at 12:00 pm, and the Attendance Clerk will arrive at 11:45 am. The afterschool program will follow St. Cecilia’s school calendar; no afterschool program will run on days when SCS is closed to children. This is a nine-month position employed August – May.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Check youth in and out of the Afterschool Program using Trax Attendance Manager(Internal system)
  • Monitor the door camera and verify the identity of individuals allowed into the building
  • Greeting guests upon arrival
  • Ensure accurate real time attendance for emergency procedures
  • Ensure safe dismissal of members to authorized pick-up person
  • Answer all telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Maintain knowledge of school and activity calendars, keeping youth and families abreast of upcoming events and important dates/days off
  • Assist Program Coordinator with attendance data entry and reporting as needed
  • Ensure compliance of public health and emergency protocols
  • Review all membership applications for accuracy before accepting
  • Administer warnings and fines to parents/guardians for late pick-up
  • Keep all necessary forms supplied
  • Assist in administering First Aid to members as needed
  • Assist with cleaning and organizing of Afterschool space as needed
  • Report daily attendance numbers to Leadership daily
Requirements:
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience and experience utilizing online databases
  • Experience using iPad, iPhone and laptop devices
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with data entry
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English is highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High school diploma required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to self-start, take initiative, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Works collaboratively with other staff and management
  • The ability to problem solve and process through critical thinking
  • Must pass the health and employment requirements set by Missouri Department Elementary and Secondary Education as a condition of employment (including background check, fingerprints, drug screen, physical and TB risk assessment
 
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while monitoring attendance and greeting members.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry, operating computers, tablets, and phones.
  • Visual and auditory ability to monitor door cameras, verify identities, and respond to phone calls.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs) when organizing program space or handling supplies.
  • Ability to administer basic First Aid, which may require kneeling or bending.
  • Must meet health and employment requirements set by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, including physical exam and TB risk assessment.
