Counselor/Tutor- Learning Resource Center, Workforce Development (7874)
The Counselor/Tutor for the Learning Resource Center/Workforce Development facilitates and delivers high interest and innovative workshops, training sessions and mini-courses in math, language arts and computer coding. He or she will create and prepare curriculum and work with SIUE departments on the main campus to align Learning Resource Center courses with the related courses in the Schools of Business and Engineering. Additional, the Counselor/Tutor will offer program participants information about careers available in information technology (IT) and provide opportunities for career exploration in IT by setting up informational sessions with employers, conducting mock interviews, and arranging for job shadowing.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the center's mission and goals.

-Bachelor's Degree in education, science, computer science, social work, math, English, business.
-Comfortable working with computer hardware, software, networking and information delivery systems.
-Adept at using a variety of programming languages, including C++, Microsoft Visual Basic and Java, Python.
-Knowledgeable about electrical engineering technology, physical science and telecommunications systems.
-Industry recognized IT certifications are a plus (Comptia A+, Cyber Security, Windows, Microsoft Office).
-Proficient in mathematics, from advanced algebra and calculus to statistics, probability and data analysis.
-Effective communicators with good public speaking skills and strong presentation delivery abilities.
-Good leader, with a variety of teaching styles that facilitate one-on-one interactions.
-Superior ability to correspond and communicate effectively with internal and external patrons.
-Experience working with diverse populations to include school age youth, high school students and adults.
-Skill in exercising appropriate judgment in decision making.
-Demonstrated time management skills, ability to multi-task.
-Demonstrated organizational skills.
