This position provides psychoeducational treatment services to preschool-aged children, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental problems, and who have experienced child abuse/neglect or family violence victimization. Work as a member of a team that provides a structured therapeutic milieu to promote remediation of developmental delays and resolution of children's behavioral problems, which have resulted from their victimization or neglect.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to maintain the daily therapeutic milieu.
  • Take an active role in the daily functioning of the classroom
  • Implement all classroom practices including, curriculum development, room arrangement, daily schedules, routines, and transitions.
  • Create daily lesson plans which incorporate developmentally appropriate activities and NMT-informed therapeutic interventions.
  • Prepare and maintain the classroom environment for the daily activities; ensure cleanliness and safety of the physical environment.
  • Provide support to the Educational Therapist during group therapy.
  • With support from the Program Supervisor, establish and monitor individual academic goals.
  • Utilize Trauma Smart, ARC (Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency) Model, and NMT-informed interventions in the classroom.
  • Ensure safety of children attending the program at all times, including the use of the safe room or restraint as trained and when necessary.
  • Assist Educational Therapist in completing quarterly assessments, as needed.
  • Assist Program Manager in completing NMT brain metrics for all children, as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff and classroom meetings, including clinical staffing of individual children.
  • Participate in parent conferences, as needed.
  • Implement individualized NMT recommendations with support from the therapist and educational therapist.
  • Participate in regular communication with caregivers to support engagement and consistency between home and school.
  • Regularly serve as a monitor on the vans to ensure safety during times of transportation of the children to and from school.
  • Attend all trainings as required, including 12 hours of approved childcare credit hours.
  • Must be actively involved in Performance Quality Improvement processes.
  • Must complete 20 hours of in-service training annually.
  • Complete annual First Aid/CPR training, training in Child Abuse and Neglect identification, and Mandated reporting and prevention training.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in early childhood education or child development required. Advanced degree in related field (social work, counseling) and credits hours in early childhood education considered.
  • Experience in early childhood education preferred.
  • Minimum three years experience required.
  • Personal qualifications as required in Part 407: Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers.
  • Experience in serving high needs populations; preferably working with children with challenging behaviors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
