Responsibilities

The Configuration, Application Lifecycle & Middleware (CALM) Department is seeking an Engineer 2 to contribute to our mission tosteward a modern, evolving, secure and innovative portfolio of commodities & services to empower IT to deliver quality and value.

 

As an Engineer 2 you will work in a team environment and use both technical knowledge & professional concepts to deliver, support & enhance the solutions leveraged in the development, delivery and run-time of applications developed by teams across IT. You will be expected to evaluate customer needs and collaborate with application, infrastructure & security teams to design and deliver high quality, scalable solutions that meet customer needs & align with IT objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with product managers and architects in the design, implementation and maintenance of systems and tools in support of the Software Development Lifecycle. (i.e. BitBucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, etc.)
  • Implement and support workflow & collaboration solutions. (i.e. Jira, Confluence, HipChat, Slack, etc.)
  • Deliver and support middleware platform solutions (i.e. WebLogic, Tomcat, Tuxedo, etc.)
  • Develop, document and maintain Build, Deployment, and Continuous Integration systems.
  • Design, build, maintain, and scale infrastructure for Dev, QA and Production environments.
  • Work closely with Development, QA & Security teams to help ensure people, process and technology deliver end-to-end quality.
  • Contribute to the development of standards and best practices.
  • Develop automation to eliminate operational tasks and create efficiencies by leveraging tools & process.
  • Managing systems and process in accordance with compliance and audit controls
  • Provide escalation support services to CALM department and external customers, including some "on-call" responsibilities.
  • Work request and incident queues to meet prescribed SLAs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
  • 3+ years of Systems Engineering Experience
  • Experience working with source code & artifact repositories and automation servers
  • Must possess strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to establish and maintain solid working relationships with peers, vendors, senior management, and other departments within IT
  • Must have experience with Agile software development practices (test-driven development, Agile/SCRUM)
  • Must have proven experience working and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Must have a professional attitude and the willingness to take ownership, provide high quality customer service, and expend extra effort to achieve optimal results
  • Must be able to identify gaps and/or barriers to success and effectively articulate those findings to leadership
  • Must be able to manage problems and conflict as they occur
  • Must have the ability to accommodate periodic after-hours and weekend response to incidents when on-call
  • Must possess professional communication abilities, both written and verbal

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in the setup, configuration, maintenance, and upgrading of one or more server operating system families (UNIX, Linux, etc.)
  • Pro*C knowledge a plus
  • Scripting skills are recommended (Perl, Shell, Groovy)
