St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.
We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant who will provide a broad array of HR services primarily related to the Employment and Orientation and training functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Greets visitors, answers telephone, provides information, and responds to various requests to provide quality customer service.
Answers routine questions regarding selection/hiring process and applicant tracking system.
Assists with completing reference checks for prospective employees and forwards to appropriate HR staff, as needed.
Handles requests for verification of employment by providing information as established in HR department procedures.
Responsible for all aspects of new hire orientations including new hire packets and eVerify.
Provides hiring and administrative support to the HR Generalist, which may include creation/maintenance of job descriptions, job ads, job postings, offer and regrets letters, and processing advertising invoices.
Coordinates and maintains log and documentation for criminal background checks and MVR checks; motor vehicle reports; allied health background checks and drug screens. Investigates discrepancies, and forwards any findings or criminal records to the Director of Human Resources.
Participates in design of the overall strategy and annual training calendar.
Responsible for the L&D program including entering training data into the HRIS and Excel and creating and distributing certificates. Ensures legal compliance by retaining a comprehensive file of course materials and attendance sign in sheets for each training class provided.
Administers HR Record Retention practices for Employment, including I-9s. Creates and maintains personnel and termination files.
Performs additional clerical functions and special projects as needed for the VP for Human Resources and Director of Human Resources.
Coordinates training programs, webinars, and open housed, including set up of rooms, catering, and other preparation of training classes, including the Staff-in-Service program.
Administers tuition reimbursement and tuition waiver programs.
Administers the performance evaluation process, ensuring follow up with managers, data entry of scores, and timely filing in the personnel files.
Maintains online directory.
Performs various administrative duties essential to the operation of the Human Resources department (e.g. sorts, opens, and distributes mail; orders supplies etc.).
Assists HR Administrative Specialist with open enrollment, mailings, filing, and photocopies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
