Job Description
-PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR-

Thompson Coburn LLP currently has a non-exempt position available in our St. Louis office for a full-time Professional Development Coordinator with three years of support experience in a large law firm. Working knowledge of CLE accreditation requirements and Missouri’s annual compliance process is preferred. The person selected for this position must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
 
Job Responsibilities.

·         Supports the semi-annual counsel and associate review process, including preparing review documentation and assembling packets for Review Committee members.

·         Supports the Firm’s mentoring programs. Works with the Director and other team members to identify and address training and development needs, develop curriculum, and implement programs.

·         Drafts program announcements and other communications for distribution.

·         Generates and issues CLE certificates of attendance for attorneys attending accredited programs; processes CLE certificates for entry into the Firm’s CLE tracking database.

·         Tracks attorney CLE compliance using the CLE database; communicates with attorneys and their secretaries regarding their compliance status.

·         Assists attorneys with annual CLE compliance filings.

·         Organizes and analyzes program evaluations and recommends program adjustments.

  • Coordinates Fall Associate Bootcamp programming.

·         Researches CLE rules and regulations in various jurisdictions; obtains and tracks program accreditation in various jurisdictions; works with the Marketing Department and Director of Business Development to support CLE accreditation for external CLE programs, including providing guidance for accreditation requirements.

·         Maintains and updates accredited provider records in various jurisdictions, including processing annual reports and fee payments.

·         Manages meeting and program logistics including scheduling, securing meeting rooms, coordinating meeting room set-up and materials, and trouble-shooting

 
 
Job Requirements
·         Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Required to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
·         Must have ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English; ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
·         Must possess attention to detail, ability to balance multiple projects, and strong time management skills.
·         Must have ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
·         Ability to process routine daily functions while being able to resolve sensitive issues and complex assignments utilizing above average critical thinking skills.
·         Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee in order for him or her to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.  These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday, having the ability to transport 20 pounds and being able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office.
