Business/Administrative Associate, Purchasing Business Enterprise Program (BEP) Specialist (9399)
The Purchasing Business Enterprise Program (BEP) Specialist will serve as the liaison between SIUE, the diverse, veteran, and small business community, external procurement agencies and other advocacy agencies. The selected candidate will lead the University’s efforts of compliance with and the development of the Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program (BEP) and other diversity metrics, goals, and initiatives with respect to procurement. The BEP Specialist will identify, educate, and assist current and new potentially qualified vendors in completing the reporting and compliance plans that are required by the Illinois Procurement Code and will work with the Director of Purchases to lead the conversation of continuous improvement in policies, procedures, and legislation of all related issues. This position will also work with the CMS BEP staff to assist with recruitment, new certifications, and maintaining current certifications of businesses owned by minority, female, disabled, and veterans.
Additionally, the Purchasing BEP Specialist will attend outreach events sponsored by Illinois’ State Universities and various agencies; host local outreach events, webinars and meetings; enhance and provide training programs for the campus community; and work to achieve internal metrics established for the above efforts.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department, university and program.
1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management or a field related to the position.
2. Two years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, one year of which was at an administrative level.* 3. Three years of business, management, purchasing, or contracting experience in procurement focused on procurement diversity.*
4. Three years of experience conducting training and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences.*
*Years of experience may be concurrent
-Master’s degree in business, public administration, finance, or marketing.
-Knowledge of the Illinois Procurement Code.
-Knowledge of the Illinois Business Enterprise Act.
-Knowledge of the Illinois Higher Education Procurement Rules.
Illinois residency required within 180 calendar days of the start date for the designated position.
