Carpenter, Open Recruitment
SIUE is pleased to announce open recruitment to fill any future openings for Carpenter positions within the Facilities Management Department. The Carpenter is responsible for performing carpentry work in all areas of the university maintaining a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Repairs and/or replaces doors, door hardware, floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs.
2. Uncrates/assembles new furniture and equipment for relocation; delivers furniture in accordance with prevailing agreements.
3. Installs interior and exterior signage.
4. Performs an assortment of carpentry tasks to construct new spaces for offices and/or instructional areas.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department's mission and goals.
This position is an Open Recruitment Civil Service posting at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Open Recruitment indicates an ongoing need to recruit persons interested in this job title. 2. (a) Successful completion of a recognized carpenter apprenticeship program
(b) Four (4) years of fulltime journey-level carpenter experience (the trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by carpenters, millworkers, floor layers, and any other classifications encompassed within the scope of work included in these trade categories);
3. As required by position to be filled, current license/certification consistent with vehicles, machinery and equipment that is routinely used in the general occupational area.
