(St. Peters, Mo., August 31, 2021) The BCI Skills Center—a vocational training facility for adults with disabilities that partners with local businesses to create custom programs—is currently accepting students for its newest manufacturing program in partnership with Cambridge Air Solutions. The eight-week program begins October 18 and is open to five students. Full tuition funding is available.

Cambridge Air Solutions is an industry-leading HVAC firm in Chesterfield, Mo. that designs and manufactures commercial and industrial space heating, ventilation and evaporative cooling products.

“This new program is unique in that students will train on-site at Cambridge while also working full time as Seasonal Maintenance Technicians earning $15 an hour,” said Skills Center Executive Director Todd Streff. “For the person eager to dive into competitive employment with an exceptional employer, this is a wonderful opportunity.”

Two hours of instructor-led vocational training will take place on the job each workday. Students will learn pre-assembly tasks, paint prep, and assembly skills as well as the tenets of lean manufacturing, safety guidelines, and how to use various hand and power tools. Students will spend an additional hour each workday mastering various in-demand soft skills such as effective communication with supervisors and peers, good work habits, financial literacy, and problem solving.

Upon graduation, students will continue work as seasonal employees with the goal of receiving permanent Manufacturing Technician positions within two to four months.

Registration is required for all Skills Center courses. The application is available online at https://skillscenterstl.com/apply-now.  For more information, call (636) 875-5251 or visit https://www.skillscenterstl.com.
