LOCAL HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RECEIVES NATIONAL CHAMBER RECOGNITION

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis receives 2018 USHCC Chamber of the Year

September 11, 2018 (St. Louis) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced the 2018 Chamber of the Year Award recipients on September 9th, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis was selected as the 2018 Large Chamber of the Year.

In order to be considered for this award, chambers had to demonstrate major accomplishments in the areas of business, economic development, procurement and/or access to capital; leadership and service to the Hispanic and business community; measurable outcomes within the Hispanic business community and serve more than 500 members.

“From July 2016 to July 2017, we have increased our membership by 45% and expanded our leadership and bilingual business services,” states Facundo Oyenard, Board Chair for the Hispanic Chamber of Metro St. Louis. “To break the 500 member threshold and serve the St. Louis business community at the rate we have, has been an impactful experience.”

This St. Louis organization is no stranger to this prestigious honor. Just five years earlier, the Hispanic Chamber received the Small Chamber of the Year award and was recognized for their business development efforts and for serving approximately 200 members.

“When we received the USHCC Small Chamber of the Year in 2013, I knew our organization was moving in the right direction,” recalls Karlos Ramirez, President & CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Now, growing to win the Large Chamber of the Year award is a testament to our 521 dedicated members who continue to support and believe in our vision.”

Incorporated on April 28, 1982, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis strives to promote the economic development of Hispanic-owned businesses and improve business opportunities for all in the St. Louis region. The Chamber fulfills this mission by increasing the competitiveness of its member businesses in local, state and international markets. The Hispanic Chamber is the cornerstone for the Hispanic business community, and looks to participate in present and future business developments of metropolitan St. Louis.
